The Tygon Preschool was founded in 2009 in an unused section of the house of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Visitation. At the time the school was established, there were 80 children. Today the number has almost doubled to 150 children. The children come from families of immigrants and poor local people of the Phu Bai commune. Many have flocked to this community looking for jobs in the local companies and need a place to put their children while they work.
The Sisters requested funds to renovate the preschool in order to accommodate the growing number of children. Having a new preschool has provided a safe place where the local children can learn and grow in all areas of development. It will also be a great benefit for the community for years to come.
