Vietnam & Cambodia 2015

Report by Luna Capalla, December 2015: Sr. Joyce Meyer, on behalf of the Global Sisters Report, and I travelled together throughout the central highlands, coastal and southern regions of Vietnam, and the border towns in Cambodia. We visited 22 project sites during our 17-day trip in these two countries, spending the majority of the time

India & Thailand 2014

We flew from Rome to Zurich and then on to Mumbai (Bombay) in the state of Maharashtra, and entered into an entirely different experience. In Mumbai, we visited the national office of the National Domestic Workers’ Movement (NDWM) and spent time with one of the workers’ groups.

Philippines 2013

The goal of my visit to the Philippines was two-fold. First and foremost, I was sent to attend the 16th AMOR Conference. The AMOR Conference, which the Fund for Sisters has been funding since 1994, takes place every four years and gathers around 80-100 Major Superiors from Asia-Oceania.

Vietnam & Korea 2006

I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday, April 10 and was greeted at the airport by a sister who was my host during my first visit to Vietnam six years ago and the Secretary of the Union of Superiors of Vietnam. The sisters and I traveled to Bien Hoa, about an hour from

India & Thailand 2004

From November 21—December 15, 2004, Sister Joyce Meyer, PBVM, Executive Director of the Conrad N. Hilton Fund for Sisters, visited India and Thailand. She returned home just two weeks before the tsunami struck South Asia on December 26, 2004.

China 2003

I visited China in October 2003: Hong Kong, mainland, Taiwan and Macau. I traveled with a Maryknoll sister who has lived many years in Hong Kong and a Chinese woman who was guide and translator.

Southeast Asia 2001

Sister Joyce Meyer, PBVM, Executive Director of the Conrad N. Hilton Fund for Sisters, visited Southeast Asia from August 31 to September 21, 2001. She traveled to Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and attended the SEAMS (Southeast Asia Major Superiors) meeting in Johor, Malaysia.
